Description
RPS6KB1 (ribosomal protein S6 kinase B1) encodes a member of the ribosomal S6 kinase family of serine/threonine kinases. This kinase is a key downstream effector of the mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling pathway, regulating cell growth, proliferation, survival, and protein synthesis by phosphorylating the S6 ribosomal protein and other substrates. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
